Very Low Frequency Cable Testing

Maintaining Medium Volt Cables can be an inconvenience, as it requires a planned power outage, and a few hours of your time at a predetermined cost. Failed Medium Volt Cables will be a catastrophe, resulting in an unplanned outage which could last from many hours to several days, with escalated costs. Not to mention the cost with a loss of production.

Infra-Red Building and Power Service, Inc. offers VLF cable testing to help you maintain your cables and provide you with the information needed to keep your facility operating. We can also provide you with the needed data to plan on cable replacement at your convenience.

VLF testing is a non-destructive test utilizing low current and voltage resulting in less stress on the cable as well as a safer test compared to other tests offered in the marketplace. VLF testing is highly sensitive to insulation weaknesses like water, trees and air voids. VLF testing simulates real-world service conditions that your cable sees on a daily basis. This allows Infra-Red the ability to provide detailed diagnostic information about a cable’s true condition, enabling you to perform preventative maintenance should a potential issue be discovered, before it becomes a critical failure.

VLF testing adheres to industry standards as set by IEC, IEEE and NETA, ensuring consistent and reliable test results. Please let us know if you are interested in having an Infra-Red NETA approved test program developed for your Medium Volt Cable needs.
